An Italian Easter Song (A Gift for You)

Buona Pasqua (Happy Easter) from Italy!!

This Easter is, beyond doubt, the strangest most of us ever remember celebrating. And in the midst of this COVID-19 storm we perhaps feel sad, alone, and shut in. But to help ease that, I’ve got a little gift for you from our church…

An Easter song (in Italian) proclaiming the good news that ‘In Christ alone our hope is found, He is our light, our strength, our song! A Cornerstone and solid ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.’

An Easter gift proclaiming the good news that Christ is risen!

For “bursting forth in glorious Day, Up from the grave He rose again!”

No bars, prison, or government decrees can ever cancel the freedom we have in Christ!

‘No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck us from His hand! All other ground Is sinking sand. Here in the power of Christ we’ll stand!!’

In Christ, we are eternally free to…

  • Know him and feel his presence.
  • Hear his voice and talk with him.
  • Trust him.
  • Rejoice in him.
  • And praise and worship him.

An Easter hymn direct from Italy!

A Te Gesù (In Christ Alone), sung by members of our praise group during our online Easter morning meeting. Watch it below!

I think they did a great job, especially considering that it was done with each person in their own separate home! Bravi!!

Easter has always been my favorite holiday, and my heart was greatly saddened at not being able to celebrate his resurrection in church with my brethren. So this song blessed my heart immensely, and I hope it will bless yours as well.

I pray that this would ever remain our song to him – who alone is worthy of all praise, glory, and honor.

A Te, Gesù (In Christ Alone)

The team:
Musicians: Andrea on the sax, Angelo on guitar, Daniele on piano, Gloria on the violin, Paola on the bass, and Shawn on guitar. | Voices: Daniele, Emanuela, Gianna, Ivana, and Shawn. | Technician: Shawn.

So Buona Pasqua from Italy.

A day of celebrating life and victory over death!

Read the Italian words below:

Or the English words here.

A Te, Gesù, io canterò, Luce e speranza sei per me.

Ci riscattò, ci trasformò, In Lui, vittoria e pace abbiam.

    1. Thanks Karen, I’m so glad the song blessed you! We are fine, thanks. We have not had many cases here in our area so things have remained pretty calm. I see that things are starting to get bad over there though. Hope you all stay safe and well.

  2. One of my favorite praise hymns also. Your church’s worship team is very talented, but better yet, they sing and play from their hearts. A blessed day after Easter, Sheila. He is risen!

    1. I agree Nancy. I think it’s one of the most beautifull hymns of all time! And yes, our team is very talented. But like you said, it comes from the heart. All they want to do is glorify God. We pray he will always get all the glory for all that we do!

    1. You are more than welcome, Linda! And yes, it is one of the most special hymns ever, and beautiful no matter the language. Perhaps we will sing it around the throne, each in his or her’s own tongue!!

  3. Beautiful! In Christ Alone is one of my all-time favorite hymns. What a wonderful testimony to unity and the heart of those who love and are loved by our Resurrected Lord. Thanks for this sweet Easter gift, my friend. There’s something about hearing an old favorite in another language that expands the scope of heaven for me.

    1. Grazie! So sorry I didn’t answer sooner. Your comment got sent to spam. You are so right! Easter joy can be summed up in those words: “Cristo è davvero risorto!!” (Christ is risen indeed!!) Blessings to you and yours!
